Professional Details

Summary

I am a Chartered Civil Engineer, currently (as of August 2006) employed as the Associate in charge of the established Transportation Planning Team in the Portishead office of Capita Symonds.  If you wish, you may contact me thorough this page, however for the moment I have withdrawn my full CV from this site.  A specific e-mail link is provided at the bottom of this page and, of course there is the general contact in the "Navigation" secion to the right.

Just to give you some background, I undertook a BEng in Civil Engineering via a 4 year thick sandwich course at Plymouth Polytechnic from 1982 - 1986.  My sandwich year was with the Main Drainage Section of Poole Borough Council, who at that time operated the Agency Agreement for Wessex Water within the Borough boundary.

Following graduation I joined Hydro Research & Development as a Projects Engineer.  Work here involved the hydrological design of stormwater attenuation systems associated with new developments.  In addition I kept the office computer resources in line and was responsible for the evaluation of the software being developed in house.

After around 2 years with HRD I became aware that my professional development would be better advanced by undertaking an approved ICE training scheme.  I left HRD and joined Parkman Consulting Engineers in 1988.  During a period of over 10 years I undertook a wide variety of work ranging from development infrastructure (highways & drainage), drainage area studies, transport assessments, and transportation modelling for the Highways Agency and other Local Authorities.

During my time here I sat and passed both PE1 and PE2 becoming Chartered in 1992.  I was promoted 3 times, finally to Senior Engineer.

I joined Jubb Consulting Engineers in 1998 as a Senior Transportation Planner in the Cardiff office.  I was promoted to Associate Director in charge of Transportation, responsible for Transportation in the Cardiff and Bristol offices and the Civils design team in the Cardiff office.  Jubb predominantly worked for developers and the majority of my design and project management was related to housing, commercial and retail development in the private sector.

I have become involved with the Institution of Civil Engineers as a committee member of the Transportation Engineering Group, where I was Chairman in 2004/05 & 2005/06.
