Shanmrock is a restored ketch rigged Tamar sailing barge from 1899. Her shallow draft allowed her to work to the manure factory at Torpoint where she was taken direct onto the beach and settled upright as the tide ebbed allowing her to be loaded from both sides. She carried manure and fertilizer regularly from Torpoint to Plymouth but also worked up the river to the small quays like Cotehele with cargoes of coal, stone, limestone, bricks and sand.
